Syllabus & Curriculum
The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) program is a three-year course that integrates academic learning with hands-on practical training. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a regulatory authority under the Government of India, oversees the module examinations conducted throughout the academic period. To earn an AME license, candidates must complete all required Aircraft Maintenance Engineering modules and practical training. While the program comprises a total of 17 modules, the specific ones a candidate must clear depend on their chosen specialization. The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Syllabus is thoughtfully crafted to equip students with the technical knowledge and practical skills essential for maintaining aircraft and ensuring their airworthiness. It is divided into structured Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Modules, adhering to DGCA standards and other international aviation regulations.
The syllabus is broadly categorized into two streams:
Mechanical (Airframe and Engine): Covers areas such as aerodynamics, propulsion, hydraulic systems, landing gear, and powerplants.
Avionics (Electrical, Instrument, and Radio Systems): Focuses on navigation, communication, electrical systems, and instrumentation.
Core subjects include aerodynamics, aircraft systems, aviation regulations, propulsion, and materials and hardware. Practical training emphasizes advanced aircraft systems, engines, and electronics, ensuring students are well-prepared for real-world challenges.
Each module builds expertise in a specific domain. For example, airframe and engine modules delve into key systems like hydraulics and powerplants, while avionics modules focus on electrical systems and communication. Students also gain hands-on experience through internships at DGCA-approved Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities.
This comprehensive curriculum ensures students acquire both theoretical knowledge and industry-relevant skills, preparing them for a dynamic and rewarding career as licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers in the ever-evolving aviation sector.
