The air transport industry is expanding, Aviation provides the only rapid worldwide transportation network, generating economic growth, creating jobs, and facilitating international trade and tourism.

The most recent estimates suggest that demand for air transport will increase by an average of 4.3% per annum over the next 20 years.

If this growth path is achieved by 2036 the air transport industry will then contribute 15.5 million in direct jobs and $1.5 trillion of GDP to the world economy. Once the impacts of global tourism are considered, these numbers could rise to 97.8 million jobs and $5.7 trillion in GDP.

By mid-2030s no fewer than 200,000 flights per day are expected to take off and land all over the world.

World wide – 51% of the population lives within 100 km of an International Airport – and 74% live within 100 km of any kind of airport

India is expected to become the world’s third largest aviation market by 2024.

India is expected to overtake China and the United States as the world's third-largest air passenger market in the next ten years, by 2030, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

According to a research report by Morgan Stanley, the Indian aviation industry is likely to recover to 80% of the pre-COVID levels (as of 2020). Between October 2021 and December 2021, ~92 million domestic passengers are scheduled to fly in FY22.

Under RCS-Udan scheme, approximately 34,74,000 passengers were flown and 335 routes were awarded during 2019, covering 33 airports (20 unserved, 3 underserved, 10 water aerodromes).

Due to rise in demand in air travel, India will need 2,380 new commercial airplanes by 2038. India plans to open 100 additional airports by 2024.

Aircraft operators means the flying of aircraft through various airports. There are 3 types of operators.

  1. Scheduled operator (Airlines which operate their aircraft nationally or internationally for passenger transport viz. Air India, Go Airlines, Indigo Airlines, Spice jet Airlines, Etihad Airways, British Airways etc
  2. Non-Schedule operator ( Airlines/operators who fly their aircraft as per the specific needs of the customer viz. Heligo Charter Pvt. Ltd., Himalayan Heli Services Pvt. Ltd, India Flysafe Aviation Ltd., OSS Air Management, Poonawalla Aviation, AirCharter Guide, SimmSamm Airways Pvt. Ltd., Skyone Airways, Spanair etc)
  3. Cargo operator ( Airlines/operators, who operated their aircraft solely for movement of freight viz. Blue Dart, First flight etc.)


Organizations which operate their fleet of aircraft solely for the movement of government officials/government use viz. BSF, UP state hangar, MP state hangar like every state has their own aircrafts for state government officials, etc.


Colleges which are specially approved by the DGCA, Govt. of India for providing training to aviators like PILOTs, AMEs, Airhostess, Flight Dispatchers etc.


Manufacturing companies like Boeing, Airbus, Cessna etc. manufacture aircrafts and along with aircraft it requires a lot of technical documents like maintenance manual, flight manual, crew operating manual, illustrated parts catalog etc.


Aircrafts are flying machines which require a very high level of scheduled/non-scheduled maintenance. Organizations which are solely approved by the DGCA, govt of India for the purpose of maintenance of airplanes viz. Airworks India Pvt. Ltd, Indamer Aviation, GMR, Shaurya Aeronautics etc.
